Hurricane Recovery in Houma, Louisiana

Goal: Send more volunteers at $600 each to repair hurricane damaged homes.
Email:

ach year since the Huricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike washed away many homes in the Gulf Coast area, the Presbytery of San Jose has sent groups to work on home repair. Earlier this year a group representing six churches in the Presbytery went to Houma, Louisiana and not only worked on four homes still in disrepair, but bonded with the families there and pledged to return in November 8-14.  For each person to volunteer for a week it costs about $600 for the flight, room and board. While some people on the last trip had no problem funding their trip, others that would have liked to go, could not afford it. These funds will help more people to participate in the work and pay for some needed lumber and supplies for the repairs.  So much work still needs to be done.
