The Latino Ministry Project has taken off. A very sucessful Dia De Muerto event in November 2010 brough 50 people together. Over 250 people attended the January 6, 2011 Dia de Reyes celebration. The celebration included a posole dinner, family photos with the Three Kings, a raffle, a Posada, and three pinatas. A Sunday evening Spanish Language Worship Service began January 16, 2011 and already 25-30 people are attending.
The Latino Ministry Project was launched with a bilingual Three Kings Day celebration January 6, 2009 and continues to reach out to and build up Latinos in the West Sacramento area with a Spanish-language Bible study, a food ministry, an integrated youth group and kids’ choir, and occasional praise and worship events in Spanish. The outreach is entering its third year and some ministries we feel called to start, such as an afterschool program for kids, are resource-intensive and beyond the financial abilities of the church. The project is funded in part by a church transformation grant and in part by the church’s limited mission budget. We invite you to partner with us to break down barriers and create churches that look like what we’ll experience in heaven – lots of different people worshiping, serving, growing, and loving together!
