In partnership with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, Fremont Presbyterian Church (Sacramento) leads a coalition of seven congregations in a wholistic ministry to the Shekkacho people of Southeastern Ethiopia.

This deeply impoverished and oppressed group of 80,000 has responded wholeheartedly to the proclamation of the Gospel and a Presbytery of 20 Shekkacho churches has been established. The needs of this young and developing church for Bible
translation, church and school construction, literacy. leadership training school scholarships, clean water development, and microenterprise are myriad and intense.  Projects are undertaken under the direction of the Illubabor Synod of the EECMY with the goal of assisting the Shekkacho churches to  become self-supporting and independent.

Participating Northern California & Nevada network churches choose to support the ministry component(s) which are most consistent with their congregation's mission vision.  Churches presently involved are:  St. Andrew's (Yuba City), The Presbyterian Church, RedBluff, Celtic Cross (Citrus Heights), First Presbyterian (Carson City), Woodland Presbyterian,
Community Presbyterian (Vacaville), and Fremont Presbyterian (Sacramento).
